Custom Fighter (In private collection)

This hand forged custom knife has a blade, guard and buttcap all made from 1095 high-carbon steel. This knife was made for a Major in the US Army who is currently serving in Iraq. This knife is intended to be a daily carry tool / weapon. Since the knife has the potential of seeing life saving duty I built it with some unique features.
The blade has been differentially heat treated to leave the cutting edge extremely hard (in the 57-60 Rockwell C range), while allowing the spine to remain “springy”. This allows the knife to be used to hammer, chop, or see other percussive duty without the possibility of breakage. All while ensuring that the cutting edge remains exceedingly sharp even after months of use. In addition, the guard and the buttcap have both been welded directly to the blade. Each were then hardened to ensure that they can be used effectively for puncturing and hammering as the need arises.
The handle scales are made from Blackwood and incorporate red spacers just to add a little beauty to the knife. I also created a custom Black Kydex sheath with a multiposition belt loop to allow the knife to be securely carried in either the vertical or horizontal position.
